Who Cuts My Taxes More?

I’m not against tax cuts… as long as there’s a plan for paying for them.

But the rhetoric this week left me wondering, who will cut MY taxes more?

Fortunately, CNN did the math. The result? I’ll save more under Obama’s tax cuts than McCain’s. And so will almost everyone else I know.

Furthermore, everyone I know will still either have their taxes cut under Obama, or on the extreme end, will have the same tax bill as before. A few people would save more under McCain, but tax cuts for them won’t affect their bottom-line lifestyle, it will simply result in more artificial stuffing of the stock-market balloon.

And, though neither plan is revenue-neutral, McCain’s plan will increase the deficit by $1.2 TRILLION (36%) more than Obama’s.

But that’s just on the revenue side.

On the spending side, Obama has his little pet projects, but they are damned cheap compared to McCain’s never-ending commitment to war.

Who’s the conservative again?

The biggest difference between Obama and McCain on the spending side is healthcare, but you can’t just compare simple numbers there, you have to consider what Obama’s plan would be replacing–parts of the private insurance that people are already paying out the nose for via their employers. And, frankly, I don’t see Obama getting his healthcare plan through Congress in a first term anyway.
